Microcurrent

Utilizing microcurrent technology, which mirrors the body's natural low-level electrical current, our microcurrent treatment goes beyond mere facial toning. This innovative technology significantly enhances facial contours, visually lifting the facial landscape and leaving the skin plump, hydrated, and remarkably firm. Scientific studies support its efficacy, demonstrating that microcurrent stimulates the production of Adenosine Triphosphate (Cheng, et al. 1982), a cellular powerhouse vital for key functions, including protein synthesis crucial for collagen and elastin production.

Microcurrent treatment is a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution that can be tailored to your needs, whether offered independently, as a series for a more comprehensive approach, or seamlessly integrated into your facial service as an enriching add-on. Experience the transformative effects of microcurrent technology as we rejuvenate and revitalize your skin with precision and care.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peeling consists of the application of a chemical substance to the skin in order to produce desquamation (skin cell shedding) of the stratum corneum and normalization of the epidermis with remodeling of the skin, leading to improvement in a number of skin alterations such as collagen induction, hyperpigmentation, acne-prone skin, scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, and overall skin rejuvenation.

They are one of the most commonly used cosmetic procedures, as they can produce a considerable improvement in quality of the treated skin after a short and, in some cases, very mild recovery period.

There are a wide variety of chemical peels available, and as part of a treatment program for sun-damaged, acne prone, hyperpigmentation or aging skin, peels are a safe, effective, non-toxic method of skin correction. Embark on a restorative journey with us, where a series of treatments may be recommended to optimize your skin's health.

At Harmonize Face & Body Aesthetics, a professionally educated and licensed aesthetic nurse will create a specialized peel for you-customizing chemical composition, strength, and treatment to address your skin's unique needs.

  • If you have any of the following, a peel should not be done at this time.

Use of Accutane in the last 12 months

    Active herpes simplex (cold sores)

    Facial Warts

If you are now pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

If you form keloid or hypertrophic scars

If you have a history of sun allergies

Prior bad reaction to a peel

    Recent radiation treatment for cancer

Sun burn or significant sun exposure in the last two days

Surgery or cryosurgery within the last month to the area that you plan to have peeled

    Allergic to Resorcinol

    Allergies to salicylic acids

    Blood vessel disease

    Diabetes

Inflammation, irritation or infection of the skin

    Influenza

    Varicella (chicken pox)

  • -Discontinue use of all tretinoins such as: Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Differin, retinols, alpha hydroxys, salicylic acid/beta hydroxys, exfoliants 2 weeks prior to your treatment, to the treatment area or as instructed by your registered nurse or certified aesthetician at Harmonize Face and Body Aesthetics.

-Do not sun tan and avoid tanning beds 2-4 weeks prior to and 2-4 weeks after your treatment.

-Stop any type of depilatory treatments (waxing, depilatory creams, dermaplaning) to the area of treatment, 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after your peel.

-Stop electrolysis, and any type of laser treatments (laser hair removal, IPL) to the area of treatment, 2-4 weeks before and 2-4 weeks after your peel or as instructed by your registered nurse or certified aesthetician at Harmonize Face & Body Aesthetics.

-Do not do dermal fillers, PDO threads, neuromodulators, micro-needling, microdermabrasion, PRF/bio-stimulators, energy machines 6 weeks prior to your treatment and 4-6 weeks after your treatment.

-If you have a history of cold sores/herpes begin your antiviral medication 2 weeks before your treatment.

-While the skin is peeling, avoid swimming, wet and dry sauna, or excessive sweating such as cardio exercise.

-Do not make any plans (events, parties, dental visits, etc.) for 2 weeks after your treatment.

  • -Your procedure should take 60-90 minutes.

-We will take photos of you for documentation purposes only.

-Your provider will cleanse and prep your skin and begin the process by applying multiple layers of a specific chemical peel to your skin.

-Your skin will take on a frosted appearance during the procedure.

-During the process, your skin might feel hot and a fan will be used to minimize the discomfort associated with the application of the chemical peel.

-After the peel is completed, your skin will feel tight and warm like a sunburn. A topical ointment will be applied for comfort.

-Post-care instructions will be provided and thoroughly reviewed.

  • -With any peel, your skin may start to peel 1-3 days after the procedure and continue to peel for 7-14 more days; however, it is also possible your skin may not peel at all.

-Peels, despite their high levels of efficacy and safety, are not free of side effects. Erythema (redness) and edema (swelling) of the treated area can occur but usually subsides within a few hours but can last up to seven days or longer. Irritation, itching, and/or mild burning sensation or pain similar to sunburn may occur within 48 hours of treatment. Darkening of the top layer of the skin is common.

-Do not peel, pick or scratch the treated area, as this may result in scarring and infection. Let the dead skin come off by itself: do no aid in the peeling of your skin. The dead skin will sheet off or crumble off. Topical ointments and medications can be used to minimize itching, redness, swelling, and discomfort. Your provider will go over options with you.

-It is important to use a physical sunscreen SPF 30 and wear a hat when exposed to the sun.

-Do not have any other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks after your peel or until the skin is smooth and back to normal.

  • -Patients may have tightness and smoothness immediately post-peel.

-The skin may be pink for a few days after the peel.

-Peeling usually begins 1-2 days after application of chemical peel and can extend up to 14 days.

-Transient hyper-pigmentation and superficial crusting is possible in areas of inflamed acne.

-Fitzpatrick Skin Type’s 3-6 may experience darkening after peel due to increased shedding of the outer layers.

-Mineral/Physical Sunblock SPF 30 and hat are strongly recommended.

    -Post-care instructions will be provided.

Dermal Micro-needling

Experience the transformative benefits of microneedling at Harmonize Face & Body Aesthetics. Micro-needling creates a precise pattern of micro-channels in the targeted area, rapidly stimulating collagen and elastin production. This process also enhances blood flow and the delivery of growth factors, resulting in smoother, healthier, and more uniform skin, suitable for all ages and skin types.

Micro-needling is most beneficial for:

  • Skin Rejuvenation & Collagen Induction

  • Restoring skin elasticity

  • Reducing acne scars

  • Minimizing fine lines and wrinkles

  • Treating stretch marks

  • Decreasing hyperpigmentation and melasma

  • Improving nutrient absorption through the skin

Micro-needling is a versatile solution for various skin concerns, making it suitable for all skin types. The treatment involves minimal downtime, with a topical anesthetic applied beforehand to ensure comfort during the procedure. While you may experience redness for up to two weeks, there are no major side effects, allowing you to resume to your normal activities post-treatment. Results are noticeable after the first session, with more significant improvements occurring after 2 to 3 treatments spaced 2-6 weeks apart. Collagen production continues over time, leading to ongoing improvements in skin texture and appearance for 6 to 12 months with a proper skincare regimen.

  • Micro-needling is a form of controlled induction of the skin’s self-repair mechanism by creating micro injuries in the skin to trigger new collagen synthesis, while not posing the risk of permanent scarring. The result is smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin. Skin needling treatments are performed in a safe and precise manner with a sterile needlehead and are normally completed within 30-60 minutes, depending on the selected area.

  • The most common areas for treatment are the face, neck, low neckline, and arms, but really any part of your body can benefit from these treatments.

  • Micro-needling can be used on all skin types and is a valuable tool to treat a variety of skin concerns such as: facial rejuvenation, scarring (acne, surgical), stretch marks, pigmentation disorders, and collagen induction.

  • PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Discontinue tretinoin/Retin-A, Differin, Renova, alpha hydroxys, salacylic acid, retinols/retinals, exfoliants, waxing, laser treatments 1 week before your microneedling and until your provider tells you to continue.

For one week before treatment, avoid the following medications: Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, Excedrin (all OTC pain pills except Tylenol), Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils), cod liver oil, CoQ10, garlic, and ginger.

If you are taking any blood-thinning medications per doctor's orders (such as Coumadin, Xarelto, Warfarin, Plavix, Lovenox), do not discontinue without first consulting the prescribing physician. If you continue to take these medications the chances of developing a hematoma (blood clot) which can leave a dark spot is higher.

It is recommended not to consume alcohol prior to your appointment for 72 hours as this can increase chances of bruising.

Do not schedule any social events for the next 7 days as you may have bruising and/or swelling from your treatment. Topical Arnica gel and cold compresses can be used to help decrease bruising and swelling.

Arrive for your appointment wearing no makeup.

Avoid sun/UVR exposure/tanning for at least 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment.

No working out or increasing your heart rate for 36 hrs after your treatment.

No sauna, steam, hot showers for 36 hrs after your treatment.

If you have any known allergies to lidocaine or stainless steel, inform your provider.

If you have a history of herpes/cold sores, begin your anti-viral medication 2 weeks prior to your procedure.

If you have a history of keloid scarring, inform your provider.

  • A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin prior to the treatment to reduce discomfort and minimize pain.

  • After the procedure, the skin will be red and flushed in appearance, similar to a moderate sunburn. There may also be skin tightness and mild sensitivity in the treatment area. This will diminish greatly within a few hours following the treatment and over the following 24 hours. After three days, there should be little evidence the procedure has taken place, but in some instances you may experience redness, flakiness, and peeling for up to 2 weeks.

  • Usually you will notice some improvement after the first treatment. More significant results will start occurring after 2 to 3 treatments spaced 2-6 weeks apart. Collagen production takes place over time. Skin will continue to improve over the next 6 to 12 months post microneedling treatments with proper skin care regimen. Results will vary for each patient.

  • Micro-needling treatments should not be used on patients who:

Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)

Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)

Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics

Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction

Are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or nursing

Are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)

History of eczema, psoriasis, actinic (solar) keratosis, diabetes, or other chronic conditions

Presence of raised moles, warts or any raised lesions in targeted area; active acne

    Patients on anticoagulants

Scars and stretch marks less than one year old

    Those with wound-healing deficiencies.

  • Scleroderma

Collagen vascular diseases or cardiac abnormalities

    Rosacea or blood clotting problems

    Active bacterial or fungal infections

    Immuno-suppression

Facial fillers used in the past 6 months.
