Neuromodulators

Discover the transformative effects of neuromodulator injections at Harmonize Face & Body Aesthetics. Our focus is on utilizing FDA-approved and clinically proven prescription medications, such as Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin, designed to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines.

Neuromodulators work by softening and relaxing facial muscles, effectively reducing the visibility of lines and wrinkles. Our emphasis is on achieving natural-looking results that can last up to four months. To optimize these outcomes, most clients find that 3 to 4 treatments per year deliver the best results.

For those concerned about looking frozen or overdone, open communication and collaboration with your licensed healthcare professional is key to creating the beautiful look that you want. Harmonize Face & Body Aesthetics ensures a tailored and natural approach that considers your facial anatomy and your desires while providing solutions that leave you looking refreshed and ultimately still like you.

  • Neuromodulators work by targeting nerve endings in muscles, preventing contractions that lead to persistent frown lines. This process is especially beneficial as it focuses on the active ingredient, botulinum toxin type A, providing visible smoothing as early as 3-4 days after injection.

  • Before undergoing treatment, it's crucial to communicate your medical history to your provider. This includes any diseases affecting muscles and nerves, allergies to botulinum toxin products, or previous side effects. During your treatment, neuromodulators are injected into the specific muscles responsible for frown lines. No anesthesia is required, although a topical numbing cream is available for comfort.

  • Results become noticeable within a few days, with the maximum effect occurring around 30 days post-treatment. It’s important to schedule your follow-up in 2 weeks so we can see how you are progressing.

  • Neuromodulators can cause serious side effects including allergic reactions. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to neuromodulator may include: itching, rash, redness, swelling, wheezing, asthma symptoms, or dizziness or feeling faint. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you get wheezing or asthma symptoms, or if you get dizzy or faint. Please let your provider know if you:

-Have allergies to any botulinum toxin product

-Have had any side effect from any other botulinum toxin in the past

-Have a breathing problem, such as asthma or emphysema

-Have a history of swallowing problems or inhaling food or fluid into your lungs (aspiration)

-Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant? It is not known if neuromodulators can harm your unborn baby.

-Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed? It is not known if neuromodulators passes into breast milk.

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements.

  • Tell your doctor if you have any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. The most common Neuromodulator side effects include:

Dermal Fillers

Rediscover a more youthful and revitalized appearance with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers. Dermal filler treatments are designed to rejuvenate, smooth, lift, contour, firm, and enhance your natural features.

As we age, the face undergoes volume loss, leading to changes in shape and contour. This transformation is influenced by various factors, including facial skeletal aging due to bone resorption, thinning of deep fat pads, muscular aging causing a decline in muscle mass and soft tissue support, and volume loss in superficial fat compartments with collagen degradation in the dermal extracellular matrix.

To combat the aging process and get you back to feeling like yourself, HA dermal fillers are a wonderful solution. These clear, body-safe gels, when expertly injected beneath the skin, work to fill in facial wrinkles, restore volume loss, and restore your facial features. The result is a harmonious and subtle enhancement that brings out the best in your natural beauty.

Natural Skin Rejuvenation using your own cells: Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF)

The Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) technique uses the most advanced blood concentrate technology to generate a fibrin matrix rich in platelets, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells.

This process results in the constant release of growth factors and interleukins for 10-12 days, accelerating  tissue healing and skin regenerating processes. This 100% autologous rejuvenation technique is all-natural. There is no coating, additive, or anticoagulant present in the tubes, and it is proven to release a higher concentration of growth factors for a longer period of time.

INDICATIONS

In medical aesthetics, PRF is used in combination with micro-needling to treat:

  • Skin rejuvenation: improved skin texture and quality

  • Skin tightening

  • Collagen stimulation and induction

  • Acne and keloid scarring

  • Wrinkles and fine lines

  • Hyperpigmentation, sun damage, brown spots

  • This treatment is highly dependable on the patient's level of hydration (patients need to start the hydration process 72 hours before treatment). 64oz of water are recommended per day for the 3 days leading up to your PRF treatment.

Patients who smoke may have less response to this treatment.

Discontinue tretinoin/Retin-A, Differin, Renova, alpha hydroxys, salicylic acid, retinols/retinals, exfoliants, waxing, laser treatments, IPL 1 week before your micro-needling with PRF and until your provider tells you to continue.

For one week before treatment, avoid the following medications: Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Aleve, Naprosyn, Excedrin (all OTC pain pills except Tylenol), Vitamin E, Gingko Biloba, Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils), cod liver oil, CoQ10, garlic, and ginger.

If you are taking any blood-thinning medications per doctor's orders (such as Coumadin, Xarelto, Warfarin, Plavix, Lovenox), do not discontinue without first consulting the prescribing physician. If you continue to take these medications the chances of developing a hematoma (blood clot) which can leave a dark spot is higher.

It is recommended not to consume alcohol prior to your appointment for 72 hours as this can increase chances of bruising.

Do not schedule any social events for the next 7 days as you may have bruising and/or swelling from your treatment. Arnica and cold compresses may be used to help to decrease bruising and swelling.

Arrive for your appointment wearing no makeup.

Avoid sun/UVR exposure/tanning for at least 1 week before and 2 weeks after your treatment.

No working out or increasing your heart rate for 36 hrs after your treatment.

No sauna, steam, hot showers for 36 hrs after your treatment.

If you have any known allergies to lidocaine or stainless steel, inform your provider.

If you have a history of herpes/cold sores, begin your anti-viral medication 2 weeks prior to your procedure.

If you have a history of keloid scarring, inform your provider.

  • The procedure may take between 60 to 90 minutes.

Photos will be taken for documentation purposes only.

Your provider will numb your skin before the procedure to minimize any discomfort or pain.

Approximately 10 cc of whole blood is drawn from your arm.

The tubes of blood are centrifuged to separate the component cells. Platelets, Leukocytes and Mesenchymal stem cells are separated and used for this procedure.

The platelet rich fibrin plasma is then transferred into a syringe and injected into the desired area or a micro-needling device is rolled over the area to be treated, and the PRF is applied to the skin.

  • Day 1

Red appearance of the skin will vary depending on your treatment and the depth of the penetration of the needles. You may experience a sun-burnt feeling on your skin; this is normal and to be expected. If needed, cool compresses may be applied throughout the day to soothe the skin and an occlusive such as vaseline is used througout the day.

    Day 2

Redness or pinkness of the skin will be similar to moderate sunburn. Swelling may be more noticeable. You may experience dryness, flakiness, and or mild peeling.

    Day 3

Skin may still be pink or have returned to normal color. Swelling will subside. After three days, there should be little evidence the procedure has taken place, but in some instances you may experience redness, flakiness, and peeling for up to 2 weeks.

  • Patients who are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Patients who smoke may have less response to this treatment because nicotine from cigarettes increases blood pressure and lowers platelets.

You should also avoid platelet-rich plasma injections if you consume excessive amounts of alcohol because alcohol diminishes your body's capacity to release stem cells.

Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)

Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)

Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics

Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction
